Hi Vanson, welcome to SAF

It sounds like a side effect of the dogpile search toolbar or other malware... You may download, update and run Spybot S&D and AdAware 6 (one at a time).

Hope it will help,

Hello Chris,

Thank you for your prompt reply. Yes, I did. In addition to SpyBot and Ad-Aware I also run scan my PC with a2 Squared, CWS, Xoftspy and CounterSpy. Beside all of these I ran all Anti-Virus software I have like : AVG, avast,Stinger and F-Prot ( all freeware ). After this I went back to my Word doc. and it is still the same. I don't know too much about MS Word (because I do not work in the office). Oh, by the way just let you know that it happened to ONE Word doc. only. I open another one and the cursor is running normal like I am typing this page. ( that means I can see the cursor running on the page when I press the Space bar).

Thank,

Ok Vanson, never had this issue before on only one doc... (last was a malware infection causing weird things on MS Word).

What happens if you open a new document, copy and paste the content of the other one to it ? (just to see if it's some hidden character embedded on it)

You can also try to disable macros (it can be a corrupted one)...

Hi Chris,

Sorry, I don't know anything about Marcos. Follow your suggestion I did 2 things : First, I open a new Word window, check the cursor and it is OK, now I copy the trouble one and paste it into a new window---it doesn't work (the cursor is still hiding when I press the Space bar). Secondly, I open the other document, check the cursor and it is OK. Now I copy the trouble one and paste it right under the other document and you know what the cursor is hiding the whole document.

I think my trouble one has a something wrong with the format ( I don't know ). The only one I am sure it will work is that I have to retype the whole document to the new window.( well,10 pages ),it is not a big deal.

If you still have another solution, please let me know.

Thank you so much for your efford to help me.

I would cry.gif if I had to retype all that.

Hi Vanson wavey.gif biggrin.gif

This is just a thought.

Is there anything you typed in that document that might not be in the others documents, like Characters that might cause a problem, when added to the document?

Maybe if you copy each page at a time, to see if that page works. Could be, there is only one page that is corrupt.

Tried all to reproduce this on my Word, but no way...

Click <tools/Macro/Macros/security tab> and set the level to high.

Will scout around and post back if I find something related to your problem.

Chris

Edited: Lorraine is right, try to paste page by page, as you can retype only the faulty one biggrin.gif

If the text/cursor in a new blank document is Hidden, then this has inadvertently been selected as the default formatting. Go back to Format/Font, clear the check box for "Hidden," click the Default... button, and answer OK in the ensuing dialog. This will restore the proper font formatting as the default.

Hello there LF,

Thank you for your attention to my problem. Yes, I did like you said. I copied one page first then the entire doc.---No luck----

I don't want to retype the whole document as I said it is not a big deal. Nothing wrong with my document at all. the only thing I hate it is that I don't know where is the cursor running when I keep pressing the Space bar untill I release it.

I do not use any special Characters . Thanks anyway.

Hi Chris,----Yes, I did check the Macros and it has a check mark in radio button on HIGH level.

Thanks,

Vanson.

Vanson,

Maybe try to copy & paste into notepad. That should eliminate formatting characters and macros.

Save the file in .txt format, bring it up, & copy & paste back into ms word.

Good Luck

You could save it down to an older version or even to a text file from inside Word, usually resulting in the same effect (removing advanced features like macros).

What "view" are you looking at this document in? "Normal" "Page Layout" etc? Some features can't be seen in "Normal" (such as embedded images) that can be seen in "Page Layout" (etc.). Have you tried toggling on the "Show/Hide" button to see where all your spacing and carriage returns (etc.) are?

I still like the idea of saving it down to a plain text file and giving it a go. Keep us posted.
