Hi Yall,

I'm using OUTLOOK as a contact manager and need to be able to use the Windows Dialer.

Problem:
When I run phone line from the wall jack to my modem in and the out line to my phone, Windows Dialer will dial but as soon as it starts to dial, my phone goes dead. I can hear it dialing through the speaker in the PC case and I can hear my friend/tester saying hello hello through the speaker in the PC but not on my phone hand set / receiver.

My modem says it's only a "Fax Modem" not Voice or Voice/Fax Modem.

Is there a difference? Do I need a fully duplexed Voice modem to use the dialer and have it work with my phone.

I'll appreciate all suggestions. Don't want to put out the money if I don't have to for another modem.

"voice/data: Many modems support a switch to change between voice and data modes. In data mode, the modem acts like a regular modem. In voice mode, the modem acts like a regular telephone. Modems that support a voice/data switch have a built-in loudspeaker and microphone for voice communication."

When your friend said hello, did you say hello back and could he hear you?
