Hi
My Prescott fan used to get around 4000 RPM I think, made heaps of noize when the cpu was at max.
But Nowadays it wont get above 2428 RPM.
I did some research and tried disabling thermal control, Q-fan mode (or what ever) & adjusting the ratio up n down, also disabling q-mode, but no luck...
When the Prescott's get to hot they throttle themselves down yes??? Thus dramatically reducing my performance especially considering I get approx 75 degrees C, under 25% load.
Any input much appreciated!!!
Respect..

Hi PcPlaya, welcome to SAF
You must replace the cooler. It's a cheap thing and you can change it for a 7000 rpm fan.

Just a comment, but fan speed isn't as important as the air volume it moves. A good number of fans aren't designed well for hi-speed operation and with a poor blade design you'll get less air volume and more noise the faster you rotate the fan. I've noticed some PS manufacturers these days using a larger fan that only turns at about 1500 rpm but with a good blade design for large air volume - quiet too.
