I just performed a defrag on my main partition (c:) of my 200Gig HD using MS WIN XP defrag, and it corrupted my Master Boot Record and won't allow me to boot into XP. I have 2 other partitions on my drive, and debating on if I should run "FMBR" from the Repair Console on my WIN XP system disk. The thing that stopped me was seeing a warning telling me that running the application may affect my access to any partitiions on the drive.

I was wondering if anyone has experienced this issue, and what they did to resolve it.

TIA for any advice.

Hi mrmultimediaman,welcome to SAF

You can find info on restoring the MBR here:

Hope it will help,

I am guessing for what you want, you would need the 3rd party software option. You really have no way of knowing that the partition tables will be saved using fixmbr.

I would recommend Acronis Disk Director over partition magic.
