Hi everybody, unsure.gif
I want to know if there is a way to put my Favorites on CD so I won't lose them. Also, is there a way to put e mail on either a CD or a floppy disk?

Hi and yes.

Favorites

Right click Start>Explore>copy the favorites folder under your current profile. Stick it on your desktop. Right click>Send To-Compressed folder>save that to desktop to copy to cd. If you don't do this you will in all likelyhood discover that you will not be able to write some of the link long file names to the cd.

Email

The best way I found to do this is to literally extract the .dbx files which hold all your email data and then copy them back into OE at the point you need to. Right click Start>Explore+ (expand) Your current profile+Local Settings+Identities+Folder with a bunch of numbers+Microsoft+Outlook Express>copy to a folder the files you want. Then send the favorites and your email files to cd. Use the same process to reinstall your email files.

Hi Inteceptor,
Thanks for the prompt reply and the clear easy to understand instructions. Since I have never done either of these things before, I wanted to go over them with you. If I understand correctly, I go to my Start menu and right click it and then choose Explore. I got this far, but I don't understand how to send the favorites folder to the desktop. When I find the Favorites folder, do I then go to the Send To menu and choose Compressed Folder? How does the compressed folder get on the desktop? Maybe a dumb question, but as I said, I've never done this before and I would like to learn how to do this so it wouldn't take so long before I could format. cboy.gif

EDIT I have copies the Favorites to CD. I figured out how to do it all by myself (with your help)! Now I am working on finding the .dbx files and again I have never done this. I got as far as Start and then Explore, but where is my current profile listed? I have Classic Look for the Start menu. I forgot to tell you this. I changed my Start menu to XP and looked for the info in your screen shot. However, I can't find this listed. Maybe I'm missing it. Thanks for any help you can give. unsure.gif
