Welcome to SAF, dbowill.

You have a number of infections on that system. Before we start the cleanup, uninstall AdAware 6 and install the later AdAware SE Personal. Check for updates after installation.

Boot to safe mode using either of the methods detailed here and run a full system scan while in safe mode.

Post back with a fresh HijackThis log afterwards.

Close all open windows except HJT and click on 'Fix checked'.

Boot to safe mode.

Make all files and folders visible:

Run another full scan with AdAware and have it fix anything found.

Boot to normal mode and run another HJT scan. Post a fresh log.

If Qoologic is on the system, it will require a lot more work to get rid of it. One step at a time.

BTW, if you didn't install WildTangent deliberately, uninstall it from Add/Remove Programs. Also uninstall BPS Spyware & Adware Remover - it's not well regarded.

Thanks again for the help, this is the result of the latest scan i was unable to delete these 2 files

it says the files are being used by another person or program, eventhough i am the only person logged in and i was in safe mode

Qoologic can be a bugger to remove.

Next step is to identify the files. Download and unzip RKFiles. Boot to safe mode and run RKFiles.bat. It will talke a while to scan, so wait for it to generate a log. Post the log in your reply.

RKFiles may not identify all the files associated with this infection, but it's the first shot. There are other detection scripts we can try if this doesn't produce what we're looking for.

That RKFiles log is not showing what we're looking for. We need to try some other programs. Download these:

Find-Qoologic

SilentRunners

Ewido Security Suite

That last one is a 30-day trial of the program. It's currently the most effective program for this infection. Install it, check for updates and boot to safe mode.

In safe mode, run Ewido and save the log file it generates after the scan.

Click on Find-Qoologic.bat and save the log it generates.

Boot to normal mode and run SilentRunners (if your antivirus protests at running a VBS script, just OK it). Save the log.

Post back with all three logs and a fresh HijackThis log.

Nearly there. Most of the infection has gone.

Before you run the fix in HJT, you'll need to disable AdWatch. It will prevent the needed changes from being made in the registry.

QUOTE
Open AdAware SE.
Go to AdWatch User Interface.
Go to Tools and Preferences.
At the bottom of the screen you will see 2 options Active and Automatic.
Active: This will turn Ad-Watch On\Off without closing it.
Automatic: Suspicious activity will be blocked automatically.
Uncheck both options. You can enable these after resolving your problem.


Also, uninstall SpywareRemover. It's a rip-off of AdAware.

Run a HijackThis scan and put checks in the boxes next to these lines:

it said it was being used be another person or program

also i couldnt find SpywareRemover in my add/remove programs list

To make things easier, copy and paste the bold text to Notepad:
