I had my Search settings so that my computer would search from the Addressbar. I could highlight and delete what was there and type in URLs or words. biggrin.gif

For example, if I wanted to find SAF, I would go to Internet Explorer to my Yahoo home page and then type the following in the Addressbar: suggestafix.com and then the computer would take my direct to the SAF homepage. I did not use the Search pane or anything but the Addressbar. Last night, the computer started searching with the search pane displayed. sad.gif I did not change the settings. mad.gif They re-set themselves or possibly I have some nasties aboard. I hope that I have no nasties. I had quite enough of them in March. As far as I can tell from looking in the Device Manager, there are no nasties that I recognize. I just need to know which option I should choose under Advanced for IE to search from the Addressbar. Is it option 1? unsure.gif I know one of the options is "Do not search from the Addressbar" without the quotes and so I definitely would not want that one. worm.gif

Hi Jeannie,

Assuming that you do not have any malware running there, you can try some things...

First, restoring your system to a previous restore point...

Second, click on <Internet options/advanced tab> and search for "search from address bar" (sorry, mine is in Br Portuguese), it's the 7th option, with 4 radio buttons and a lens icon on it... set it to "search and go to the most probable result" (or something like this) lol.gif

Hope it will help,

Chris

Thanks for the prompt reply Chris, I thought that was where the setting was! I just looked and I have 4 options under Advanced Search. They are: Display results, and go to the most likely site, Do not search from the Addressbar, Just display the results in the main window, and Just go to the most likely site. I notice that the dot is beside Just display the results in the main window. smile.gif
