hi,

i have a pc with 1 gb ram, intel pentium 4 multithreading processor, a 300gb hdd, and a built-in graphics accelerator, assembled it myself wink.gif

its running windows xp home edition

i regularly (once a week or so) run CCleaner, Registry Mechanic, Norton Antivirus 2005, and Adaware Professional.

I also do a lot of high-end video, graphics, and sound editing

i have been VERY happy with my computer for the 6 months ive had it, up until about a month ago. for some reason, its starting to REALLY slow down, and CPU usage has increased by about 30%. most programs take a long time to load, and a few started crashing (theyve never crashed before). a few times these crashes were so serious that my computer rebooted.

does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing these problems? any help would be GREATLY apperiated!

Try this registry fix: Force Windows to Unload .DLLs from Memory and see if it helps.

i downloaded Tweak Manager, but what do I do from there?

Hey Tecumseh, nice tweak !

My Win XP which was 1:14' to load now is less than 1 minute... it seems to be faster either lol.gif

Just tried this to see what will happens, and it's fine.

Thanks for sharing this.

The slowing down part is one thing, the CPU usage and crashing part is another.

I suggest that you download and run a HiJack This log, and post it HERE. It won't hurt to have one of our experts review the log. Be sure to run HiJack This from its own folder, not from the C root, Temp, or Desktop.
