Full Version: Windows Media Player Trouble
Suggest A Fix PC Support Forums > Operating Systems > Windows XP

Whenever I put a CD into the CD Drive this message is displayed:

QUOTE
Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The file is either corrupt or the Player does not support the format you are trying to play.

And when I try to watch videos through Yahoo.com I am given this message:

QUOTE
Windows Media Player cannot find the specified file. Be sure the path is typed correctly. If it is, the file does not exist at the specified location, or the computer where the file is stored is offline.

Obviously my Windows Media Player is not working in some way. I am open to suggestions on how to fix the above problems or how to fix my Windows Media Player in general so I can listen to my music once again.

Hi themallard,

Are you running some firewall or Norton security shield ?

If you save a WM compatible file on your hard disk, does it play ?

Otherwise, some WM file or codec may be corrupted. Some users had problems when upgrading from WM9 to 10 or upgrading OS from Win9x to Win XP...

You can try a reinstall/repair or download from Microsoft and install it again.

Please post back.
