hi

a friend is having major problems after trying to uninstall Norton Anti virus & it looks like only way around it is to format hard drive & start again.

The problem is that when he reboots with XP disc in cd drive the PC does not seem to recognise CD it & starts as normal.

Any ideas?

Cheers in advance
Alfons
Your friend will have to enter the BIOS Setup Utility at startup and set the Boot Sequence. My recommendation of the sequence is Floppy Disk Drive, CD-ROM, Hard Drive (this could be listed as HDD 0).

To enter the BIOS Setup Utility you normally press DEL during startup (before Windows begins to boot), however some name brand computers will use keys such as F1, F10, etc. If these don't work, post the make & model of the computer and we'll let you know.
