Suggest A Fix PC Support Forums > Operating Systems > Windows XP

On Saturday, an automatic update was made and my computer rebooted itself. Since then I have been unable to sign into msn messenger. It starts the process, but freezes on the "signing in" screen where the green msn guy spins round. Contacts say on their side it shows me as signed in and they send messages but on my side it just says I am still signing in, I never get beyond that point, let alone receive a message. I have done everything MSN support told me to do in emails and nothing has worked. The ONLY thing change made to this computer between then and now was that automatic update to windows. Anyone have any ideas? I'm able to use windows messenger but it's not the same. Everything else on my computer works fine and dandy.

If removing it and reinstalling doesn't fix anything then you might want to try:

copy\paste the link below into your Browser's address bar to get there

news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.pub...c.msn.messenger

I tried the link but it just took me to Outlook and denied me access. Any other ideas? Thankies.

Hi ! manicmurderdoll,
I had the similar situation happen to me a while back not once but twice on two computers.

First, do you have any unwanted toolbars or unknown toolbars on your IE ?
You may want to get rid of any toolbar - Try to downloading ANTISPYWARE from Microsoft - Install it and run the update and let it scan through and delete all files shown to be removed.
Free Antispyware (Beta) - or try this new one http://www.intermute.com/products/spysubtract.html

I would start by doing a system restore back a month and see if that works for you.

Post back
Cheers !
