Hello again everyone

Could someone give me the boiled down version of finding an IPX address to connect two pcs together over a network to be able to play games head to head?

Im not sure I am asking the question correctly so please bare with me
Alfons
Are you using IPX/SPX? I suspect you're confusing that protocol with IP Address, and the protocol normally used for this is TCP/IP.

Please provide an overview of what you want to put together - are the computers to be connected locally by a cable or remotely through the internet?

We'll need to know what operating system each computer has in order to give you any specific setup instructions.

In addition, a description of each computers networking components should be added.

I am trying to join two pcs together over a small Lan at home on xp to play Tiberian Sun. To even see if i need to get updates or not i need to find the IPX address that the game is requesting for LAN games.

Also at the shop there is a 3000 series Dell switch with 24 ports.

I would like to play games head to head there but half of the switch is not running. I am replacing the generic retail plus router with a DLINK router/switch that sits between it and the internet modem, and hopefully the modem itself to try and improve things.

Also I have noticed that the adapters into the DLINK routers that I have are AC instead of DC. I thought it was a typo but a recently purchased one says OUTPUT 9v dc as well. That was interesting to see. They must be doing that for a reason. Can anyone shed some light. BTW thanks for the response.
