Does anyone know if Windows XP Pro 64bit edition requires special hardware such as a 64 bit CPU and applications that designed for 64bit OS?

Help is appreciated.

Read the section of this Microsoft article titled "What is x64?" In a nutshell, you have to have the right motherboard to run x64.

WOW. That's a great article.

The chipset, video card aren’t too bad to get but there still not all out of beta yet.
Yes the driver support is lacking right now at the least if your able to obtain drivers for your hardware you have to settle on some of them being beta ones.

That said I tried XP64 trial with some beta drivers and it seemed to run well enough, took it off though as I didn't like having my main system with beta drivers and software support is lacking.
So to anyone whose interested best to get the trial of it and have a dual boot system.

Will be good when the driver and software support increases smile.gif
