For anyone out there developing using the popular MySQL as a back-end database, I've just run across a brilliant program that will help and save all that messing around with the secure HTML logging-in, etc.
It's called MySQL Front.
But unfortunately, if something seems too good to be true then as a general rule, it is. It's a shareware product which is free for 30 days, after which time you must purchase a licence to continue with it.
I was able to connect to my database pretty well straight away (there was one 'connection to the database' question that flummoxed me, but I selected the most reasonable looking one from the drop-down and haven't had any ill effects yet) and immediately see all my tables, start issuing SQL statements, etc.
This is going to prove a big time-saver: if it saves significant time over the next month I'll probably deem it well worth the 35 Euros registration fee (about £20 to me, and the exchange rate from Euros to USD is usually around the 1:1 mark).
