Full Version: Cannot defrag
Attempting to run defrag and it never get's beyond 0%. This occurs in both SAFE Mode and Normal mode.

Are you running any other programs on your computer when you attempt to defrag your disk? If you are, try defragging without running any programs in the background or at the same time. If you run defrag and another program at the same time, what you describe will happen.

It should be fine from Safemode - no unnecessary programs are loaded in safemode. Have you had any problems with your pc (spyware, virus, etc). Many times removing malware will leave behind a damaged system file.
I would just try a repair install. Install windows on top of itself (to the same directory). This should replace the damaged file. This only works if you have an actual Windows ME cd.
