I Currently own the Apple "ColorSync" however, I have it set at 800x600 and for gaming such as Doom3 I have it set on 1280x768. I have my system beefed up for killer gaming and I tried setting my system (desktop) as well screen resolution for gaming to 1600x1200 but I always seem to be running into problems. I want to do it right without "trial and error" thus, I'm requesting assistance, my system is as follows:
Operating System: WinXP w/Sp1 an SP2
PowerSupply: Thermaltake 560W
Memory: 2Gig TwinX1024-3200XLPro x2
MoBo: Asus P4C800-E-Deluxe
GraphCard: BFG 6800GT
CPU: Intel 3.2 W/Spire twin CPU Cooler
SoundCard: Creative SoundBlaster 2ZS Plat
HardDrive: 2 WD160GB RAID w/Spire HardDrive Cooler(s)
Sony 52X32X52 CD-RW/16XDVD
Sony DVD-ROM
Speakers: Klipsch 5.1 ProMedia
Antec Piano Black Case w/2 120mm fans
4X92mm Fans
4X Dust Grills throughout computer
Monitor: Apple ColorSync 20.1" MAX Res 2048
Acer 8in1 Media read
samsung Floppy Drive
I built this baby and 3 others with everything the same excluding the graphic cards (1X5900Ultra/1x5900XT/1x5800Ultra), all stock no OC. I get great detail/Frame Rates with the current resolution but whats the use of having kickass graphic cards if you don't use them what they were made for and it hit me the other day that I had for gotten about the 1600x1200, and its been busting my cakes to get it correct.
I will appreciate any assistance in this matter, or point me in the right direction.

Thank You,

Ray

Hi DaGunnySgt,

As far as I know, your system supports 1600x1200 on DVI (TV) mode... have you tried Gforce tech support at http://www.bfgtech.com/tech_redux.html ?

Well Gunny, perhaps you could describe the problems you're having - we can't suggest resolutions to unknown problems biggrin.gif

Usually setting to 1600 x 1200 is a desktop setting, except when you get into games. Most games control their own resolutions. I can run my desktop at say 1024 x 768 but set my game to run at 1280 x 1024. This is higher than my desktop resolution but it works. One does not necessarily affect the other.

So 1, do as Alfons stated and give us a description of your issues and what is happening.
2, ensure you have all the latest drivers installed
3, is that Apple color sync your monitor? Does it support 1600 resolution? many people beef up their systems but not all monitors can handle it. Most all the newer ones can but some of the older cannot.

Chris,

I thank you for your input regarding this matter, now the point is I know my system (Video Card) and monitor (Apple ColorSync) supports 1600X1200 my question is; "How do I set it up correctly?" And thank you for the Point-of-Contact (BFG).

Respectfully,

Alfons,

I'm an advid gamer and I also game on line, but 1st things 1st, when I play, lets say Doom3 I do not play on my current desktop I have a separate screen that I use for gaming that I set up using less system resorces. In order to use this screen I must log off and re-enter the systen which logs me on onto a different screen for gaming. While using this gaming screen one is not allowed to go on line. Now this is where the problem is, lets say
I setup the gaming screen for 1600x1200 its not suppose to affect the other
original desktop but it does, when I log back on I can't see my desktop because it so small and when I try to adjust it lets say back to 800x600 it affects the gaming screen when I log back onto it. Now, I even tried to set both screens to the same screen resolutions each time I log on one screen will have small icons and the other will have large fonts. now even when I adjust them thru the "DPI"some how they get all screwed-up, now do you see my problem.

Hi again, DaGunnySgt

Your ColorSync supports the 1600X1200 resolution (normally at 60Hz, up to 75Hz, depending on your video card)... there's two ways to set it correctly, as far as I know, on desktop properties or with the videocard provided software.

Some recommends setting it on one of them, not on both, do not ask me why. As Nightshade said, if you have all latest drivers installed, you'll find a correct color profile on properties.

If it does not works for any reason, please post back with exact problems you are having.

kind regards,

Chris

Edit: lol.gif think we typed together. Just after posting, I've read yours lol.gif

Nightshade,

Yes I have all the latest drivers and yes the monitor (Apple Colorsync) is mine and yes it supports 1600x1200. Please read my response to "Alfons" regarding my problems. And thank you and Alfons for both of your response
to my questions.
