First, I've seen many source codes in tar.bz files. Supposedly, you have to compile these, but could someone tell me how?

Second, I have something intended to run in a Linux evnironment, but I have No way of getting one, so I need to run it on Windows XP. Is there any way I can do this? Supposedly someone told me I needed Cygwin, and I'm installing that right now, but I have no idea what to do with it.

no on the first........

use a Virtual Memory Utility on the second, due a google search, there's plenty out there to use.
