Hello all,
I set my PC to automatically dial and connect to the internet when windows starts (without me actually clicking 'dial' button) and all works fine on my own PC (win xp pro) but when I set the same thing up on another PC (also win xp), it doesnt work.
I added my connection dialer to start folder same as I did on my own PC and right clicked on my dialer and choose properties - options and unchecked "prompt for name and password, certificate, etc" and clicked ok.
I am not sure why it is not working on the other PC while it does here on mine, could it maybe be the type of ADSL modem (we both have adsl)?? I have a black Alcatel adsl modem while the other PC connects with a modem with a router (the router is not on though) 312+ . I know they use different protocols to connect. It is important to me to make it work on the other PC which I remotely control and sometimes I need to restart the PC while no one is there to connect me back to the net.
Any ideas would be appreciated!

DSL does not need to dialup. The connection is always on. You just need to set the network to "obtain IP address automatically." If you are also turning off the dsl modem, you may need to reconfigure each time.

Hi and thanks for replying,
"obtain IP address automatically" setting is good for some modems but for example for my black Alcatel modem I need to set a specific IP as it connects through a 'Local Area Connection'.
The good news though that now it seems to be working fine and connects automatically when windows start without having to click 'dial' which is a big help when I'm controlling the PC remotely.

I misread your post entirely (thanks Alfons!). Sorry about that.
It sounds like you were doing the correct thing, though, for placing the .exe in the startup file. Glad it is working.
