motherboard - ABIT NF7-series
processor- AMD Athlon 2500++ Barton
RAM - 256 MB Kingston(pc3200)
Hard Disk - 80 GB Maxtor (7200 rpm, 8 memory buffer)

my PC runs in dual-boot mode(Windows 2000 & Windows XP)....i was running the Windows 2000 at that time to access the internet using a 56k modem...

well,the problem goes like this..... when i open approximately 15 browser at a time..... the performace of the PC, the CPU usage becomes 100% and the whole PC becomes lagging(hang)..... what is the problem?? is it because too many task(open too many browser) at a time??

well,i discuss with my lecturer and he told me that the PC won't be lagging the PC even when opening 15 browsers at a time... so,i gave my opinions to my lecturer,saying that probably because of the bad sector (about 1-2k MB) in my hard disk that cause the computer lagging as we do use up some of the virtual memory from the hard disk,right?? then,my lecturer told me that this is possible also....

i also don't know whether i can agree with this... but what about you guys out there suggest??? do you agree with this??

i wish to learn more from any computer experts out there....hahaha....thank you.........

The memory swap between RAM and a hard drive usually happens when you've run low on RAM memory and the system is trying to keep up with memory demands. I don't know why you're running 15 open windows at one time because that's sure to put a strain on your dial-up connection, for one. What do you have running in your system? Too many running processes in addition to the system trying to keep up with 15 sites will definitely slow things down.

You need to run HijackThis and post the results of the scan so we may get an idea what may be going on in the background.
