I am not sure how this happened but, when I open up my Control Panel under Network connections, it lists two of them. LOCAL AREA CONNECTION 5, which is my RCA Cable Modem and the other, is LOCAL AREA CONNECTION 6 D-link PCI Adapter. Where did the 5 and 6 come from? How can I find 1,2,3, or 4? Once I find them, how can I get rid of the other connections and just have connections 1 and 2?

The other network connections are older cards that were removed, or other instances of the exisiting cards that used older software. They are stashed in the registry and there is no really need to delete them from there (they are not hurting anything)
