My dad recently bought a PC from someone who had to leave the country for a while, which already included the OS (Win Xp Home + SP1). everything was ok til last week when a window popped up and said that he has 30+ days left to activate (and today again same message but 28 days left). by the time I log into his PC (by remote control) the window dissapears so I cant see for my own eyes but it sounds like windows activation to me. I think it was triggered after I installed windows updates the other day.

Thing is, it seems like it is already activated - I used a program called 'WinKeyFinder' which showed me the Product ID number (which included the words OEM in it) and in 'activation status' field it says "Activated OK". I dont know what to think, the program says windows is already activated, yet, sometimes the activation window pops up saying he has less and less days left.

Any help would be appreciated!

I checked the link provided and it is not my case, his account belongs to the administrators group.

This pop up notification seems to come up everytime he restarts windows and simply dissapears afterwards. I tried going to start - accessories - system tools where I read there's suppose to be 'windows activation' or windows status or something like that but dont see such option.
