I am having trouble w/ one of my PC's. When i turn it on i get the following message......

Initializing 3C90XB Ethernet PCI Adaptor

Rom = 96C0h, I/O=1080h, IRQ= 09, Ethernet 802.2, Node ID 00EOB8187434

MSD = No Reply
Rx2, Rx2, Rx2, Rx2, Rx2, Rx2, Rx2, Rx2, Rx2,.........

File Server Could Not be found.

My first asumption is that the hard drive went bad as the PC is all of a sudden not getting a reply from it.

Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

in the bios check to see if boot from lan is enabled if it is disable it or choose a differnet first boot device then save and restart see if that helps

I will assume that you are in a commercial environment on a network. That message is not typical when a harddrive fails; the usual message is on a blackscreen to the effect that the MBR cannot be found, and sometimes prompts to install the operating system disk and press Enter (or approximate words to that effect).

This seems to indicate that either your nic card went south, or something corrupted the configuration of your network. Especially if all your other units are accessing the file server with no problems.
