I have just got my second PC, an new WinXP_SP2 machine, connected to my router, and thence to the 'Net. Also connected to the router is a WIN2K machine, also working on -line. Each can see the other in Explorer, under "computers near me", but when I try to access one from the other, I'm asked for an ID and password - where do I set these up, on the respective machines?

Think you have to share some folders to act with them... click on folder properties (on local machine), and allow sharing...
If your computers are seeing one and other, just share folders with them.

greetings.

You can try entering the account/pass of a user on the machine your trying to connect to. I have 2 XP systems and I use one as a fileserver and I have it set up so I have to log in with my name+ pass for the server machine.
