Full Version: How do I Stop ALCXMNTR From Coming Back
Suggest A Fix PC Support Forums > Security > Malicious Code: Viruses, Trojans, Spyware and Browser HiJacking
Jeannie
Hi HKEd,
I downloaded my e mail this morning. It comes through my spam filter before it goes to OE. I was reviewing the e mail and deciding what to do with each piece when I saw a piece that I thought may have come from my bank. It didn't and I deleted it, but it brought a computer virus. My antivirus software sent me the message that it had found a virus and was unable to repair the file. I ran a HiJackThis log which I am posting here. I didn't see anything except the ALCXMNTR.EXE.

Hi Jeannie...I don't see anything other than ALCXMNTR.EXE. That file is not what you would call sinister or malicious, but it is spyware. You can read about it here. You should be able to end task on it and disable the startup in HJT or Msconfig.

Try renaming the file to ALCXMNTR.OLD.

Did you catch the name of the virus that was detected?
Jeannie
HKEd, the name of the virus that was detected is JS.Trojan.Blinder. cboy.gif
HKEd
That's one of those java script trojans that is probably going to your Temp Internet Files folder, Jeannie. Is it still being detected?

Use CleanUp! (I linked to it before) to clean out the files in there.
