This is my first post here, and I have been searching mutiple sites for answers.
My problem:
I built this new system, and I am getting high temps. from my 6600Gt.
specs:
GigaByte K8NS -939 M/B
AMD64 3000+ 1.8Ghz CPU
Leadtek 6600GT-TDH (AGP)
Corsair XMS PC3200 TwinX 512MBx2
WesternDigital 40GB H/D
I run riva tuner to monitor the temps of my card, (no O/C'ing), and sometimes, it reaches 90+'C during benchmarks, and DOOM3, also in CounterStrike:Source.
I contacted both Leadtek, and nVidia about this and they gave me the recommended maximum temps for this card: Leadtek- 85'C / nVidia- 90'C. This card idles at 48'C at an ambient temp of 35'C.
I have 2 inlet 80mm fans(1 side cover, and 1 front lower), and the 80mm fan outlet in rear, plus the outlet fan in P/S. I then added another 80mm fan inside the case blowing directly across the 6600. I routed all cables to side to increase airflow, so this isn't an issue.
I am running the latest nVidia drivers: 71.89, and also the latest drivers for my M/B.
I wondered if anyone else had temp problems with any brand 6600, and if so, would they post them for me to reference to? Before I had to try and RMA my board and wait a month for replacement.
I checked the input voltage to my 6600, and it is at 1.5v, just as Leadtek recommended.
I am outta answers for the experience I have.
The stock clk speeds for this card are: 300/900 2-D / 500/900 3-D. I was told that the PCI-Xpress ard with the same chip is set at 500/1000.
Suggestions????

Welcome drwngflies,

Some AGP cards have drivers utilities that can be set to overclocking (do not know if it's your case)... Mine, for example, can be set to 2 X speed (default), 4 X speed and 6 X speed (overclock). This causes the card temp to rise too much. If not, please wait for more advices.
