anybody know a way to control which browser is used by individual programs? Mozilla thunderbird opens with netscape, instead of firefox. different users use different browsers. any workaround available? thanks.

You could uninstall all the browsers except for the one that you like to use.. but that's not a very good solution.
Most programs that automaticly open a browser should let you pick which one in some kind of 'settings' area.
