As I am not a particularly great typist, this is another reason why I'm glad my home machines are Macs. ;-) The scary thing to me is, this ancient phishing method used to be just a way for porn sites to rack up their hit count.* Annoying, but not really dangerous. Now it's flat out malicious, and often criminal. :-(
HKEd, I am SOOOOO tempted to sacrifice my one and only Windoze machine (a doddering IMB Thinkpad running Win 98) this weekend, assuming the site's still up. The proxy at work is blocking all the "good stuff" (I guess I'd better hope the SecurityHounds don't suddenly notice and start wondering why DB was bouncing off of sites categorized as Computer Crime yesterday morning, huh? lol); it'd sure be great practice. S'pose I ought to make sure first I know where that Windows 98 CD is...*G*
*Funny related story: years ago, a friend and coworker was in $Big_Manager's office, helping him with a project. They decided they needed to check for some info on the Nasdaq website, and my friend, who was sitting at $Big_Manager's computer, duly typed in http://**www.nasdac.com (spelling is not his strong suit). A moment later, Pamela Anderson's b**bs were all over the screen. $Friend stared in absolute horror (well, so he told me), and sat there paralyzed...until $Big_Manager dropped a hand on his shoulder.
"Don't worry about it. I did the same thing last week."
**link intentionally broken - you guys wanna see that kind of stuff, I ain't giving you a direct line. Go find it yourselves. I'm sure there's wives on this board somewhere. *G*
