I have just reinstalled XP Home onto a PC with no problems, everything is working well with the exception of font sizes in Internet Explorer and whenever I view help files. Text is fine within any other application but when I use IE or view help files it’s as though it’s working to a different resolution as the text appears very large. I am at a loss as to what is causing this and any ideas on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Have you checked the text size on IE menu "view", "Text size" ? (default is medium).
Check also video properties, advanced settings (default font is 96ppp).

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the reply but those settings are all OK, it just seems that everything within IE is scaled up to the wrong size, I'm at rather a loss as to what can be causing it

Hi,
Did you run your antivirus software? Did it find any viruses?

Tricky... note that some desktop themes on WinXP may causes this. Try reverting to the original Windows theme to check this... if it does not work, wait for someone elses' advice.
Edit: check also "accessibility", "video" at your control panel. There are some special fonts options there.

When the text sizes are large, is the resolution (colors, etc.) okay? Is your monitor standard or is it high resolution?

Hi GreenMan,
I was just wondering, do you have a scroll wheel on your mouse?..if you do, try and hold down on the 'CTRL' button while clicking down on the 'scroll wheel'...don't push down too hard...now roll your scroll wheel up, it will make the font smaller, and when you roll back, it will make the font larger.
Mine doesn't work on all pages though.
This is just a work around, until someone can find a solution for you.

I did another Internet search and found a couple or articles with some useful information. Here are the links:
