hi guys...
has anyone ever came accross a problem similar to what i am having...
i am trying to use an amd xp2000 1.67ghz on an abit kd7a mobo the problem is that it comes up as a 1.2.
i am sure there is a fix but i cant find it anywhere. i go into the cpu soft menu in the bios and add the cpu in myself it works for about 1.5 minutes then restarts (like a heat issue).
i know there is bios update for this mobo that will allow it to run amd semprons....does anyone know if this will fix the problem....
i know is hould try it myself but i have to much other stuff at the moment to do.....
just wondered if you guys new of this issues and hopefully a resolve.
before i try the bios update.
as always thanks guys.
keep up the good work thanks.gif

The only bios update I see is to support the AMD Sempron cpu. Since you are not using the Sempron, you do not need this update. Have you already done all the basics?:
*reset multipliers
*check heatsink / fan
*check to make sure cover removed from thermal pad
*make sure case fans working

the board is brand new as well i have tried all the other hardware like meory and psu just to be 100% sure but still the same i have tried absolutly everything i can think of.
im sure i read once that the was an issue between these to bits of hardware and there was a fix but damn i cant find it.

Email the mfr or exchange the board. It might be a defect in your particular mobo. It could also be an issue they dont know about yet.
