Not sure thair.gif what this is but its driving me crazy !

Helping a good friend of mine. She was having an issue with her desktop computer and her device driver - a CDRW/DVD combo -

Configuration - a P4 ASUS MB with WinXp pro SP2 all taches up tp date 3.0 mhz 512 memory -

I disabled the device and renable it - system recognized a new hardware at the next restart and installed
the drivers. However, i don't see it in the Windows Explore - whne I look at the system hardware - theres a little yello mark which for me indicates it may need an upgrade to teh drivers so I went to the website (LG) and download the flash program needed to update the drivers for a CDRW/DVD combo and installed/flashed all completed. Reboot it system,
system detected a new hardware and I can see the devices beeing recognized by WINXP - Go tot try and use it, the device is still not in the winexpl and the system device hd shows again a little yellow sign that its not there.

I ran all the spyware programs found in this site and all were cleaned and disinfected.
I also wont allow remote assistance sicne I was trying to help her from home and it wont download
some of the programs like msg messenger and other applications - Ran an online scan , found trojans and deleted them all - System is pretty clean now but still the problem lies with the device - it wont
reconize it - Any help would be much appreciayed - If all fails, I might have to reformat and reload WINXP pro.

Please help, ran out of options - I cna have her run a Hijackthis log later -

cheers!

I'd have to admit it sounds like your infected but:

what is showing up in your BIOS.......??

how are things connected, ide ?, what's going to primary and etc.?
Mysons
everything is connected fine and bios is fine , IDE is conencted and all is fine.
Your probably right, I must still be affected.geez, its time I should just reformat and reinstall XP.

Don't know what else, - I tried every spam/spy remover and hijackthis program out ther..

I had this problem on a (fairly) new Dell. Dell support actually came out and the tech replaced (first) the DVD player and then the motherboard! Neither of these fixed it.
He suggested I re-install Windows XP!

That worked. sad.gif
No more problems.
