Below is my HJT Log. What seems to be happening is a folder that i once had on my desktop, that I deleted keeps re-appearing, even when i delete it again. also wen i come to empty my recycle bin an error message pops up saying
"cannot delete CAI7OZPQ: cannot find the specified file. Make sure you specify the correct path and file name." However this error occurred before my re-appearing folder problem.

I think the only strange think you have to beware about is that autoupdater:

You have probably been infected by some malware that reinstalls itself during boot process.

You can try installing StartupCPL to view what processes are being loaded. It sits on your control panel and you can switch/unswitch safely and locate from where they are being called.

Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and uninstall POP! (People on Page).

Disable Spybot's TeaTimer.

Run a HijackThis scan and put checks in the boxes next to these lines:

Close all open windows except HijackThis and click on 'Fix checked'. Reboot and locate the AutoUpdate folder in C:\Program Files. Delete it if it exists.

Post back and let us know if the situation is any better.

Add couldn't find POP in Add/Remove Programs thus I haven't unistalled this.

I did the rest that u sed, apart from put a check in the first option regards my internet connection settings as this is set correctly so I can access my LAN.

The problem with regards my recycle bin is still present. However the re-appearing folder hasn't re-appeared yet - we'll see.

Just for curiosiers, where did you get that original folder long ago that (evidently) you had deliberately downloaded? What was the name/program of it?

The one in the recycle bin that wont go away? I'm not entirely sure, i cant remember, but yes i did download it, it'd ave been some DVD or other off a bittorrent site.

As for the folder that keeps reappearing, this is a folder i created myself on my desktop, called AKon - it only ever seems to appear when i'm listenin to music in Windows Media Player 10. very strange.

Hi steventhms...give this a shot. Download Killbox and unzip it to the desktop.

Your recycle bin is in C: and is called either Recycled or Recycler depending on what version of XP you have.

Open Killbox and click on the 'Delete on Reboot' radio button. Copy/paste this into the 'Full Path of File to Delete' box:

C:\Recycled\Desktop.ini

OR

C:\Recycler\Desktop.ini

Depending on what the recycle bin name is on your system.

Click on the red button with the white X and accept the prompt to reboot. Any change?
