I would not recommend that. You still lose your programs and data if there is a problem. If you copy everything to the 2nd drive, you would have the virus there as well.
Use the additional drive for storage. Buy a program like Ghost or Drive Image to make an Image of your boot drive. Save the image to the backup drive. Then make a bootable rescue cd.
If you have a problem, you will be back up and running in about 20 minutes.

Copying WIN98 wont really help with anything. You need backup software to backup your drive to another drive. Then you can restore individual files or the entire drive.
Even if you copied the o/s to the other drive, you would need to open the case and change the cables and jumpers to use it (if the first drive became infected / crashed). You would still be without your programs. There probably would be other issues as well.

Hi starrekin61, if you currently have a clean installation of OS and Apps, I'd recommend making an image of that partition (you don't need to make an image of the whole drive) and use it as necessary to re-image the same partition. If you're looking for a backup system, this would be the way to do it - you would have it back up and running within about 15 minutes vs. hours for a re-installation. With this approach, you can use the other hard drive for a different OS, data storage, or anything else you can think of.
This image can be made with a program such as Norton Ghost and can be placed on a hard drive, CD-R, DVD +/-R, etc. and with something like a CD or DVD, it can be made bootable as well so that you don't have to have a separate floppy disk.
