When I turn on my laptop I get the message that tells me windows wasn't shut down properly. I then select one of the modes to start up. It starts to load and then a blue screen flicks on for about 2 seconds saying that windows has had problems or something?? then shuts down and then the cycle starts again. I can't afford to loose any data on my hard drive. What can I do?

sounds like you've been hit by too many nasties to find a single magic bullet fix. If data is that important, i'd suggest:

1) remove your hd to another non-infected pc for recovery..OR

2) perform an in-place upgrade (reinstallation) of Windows XP at

I tried the reinstalation but the same blue screen comes up saying it must shut down windows to prevent damage. I think I might have to take my laptop to someone to fix. Any suggestions. I'm in Perth Australia
