Hello Scuzz,

This board does not have a separate sound card, but has integrated sound on the board; a cdrom should have come with the board containing the 4x1 sound and chipset drivers all on the one cd. Could you detail what you mean by the "sound card update" that you installed?

Also, go into Device Manager/Sound,Video and Game Controllers and check for any yellow exclamation marks there.

Ok so heres the deal, the card comes with the motherboard, i installed all the drive software on the cd that came with the board, everything else works, except for the sound, i tried diff speakers so its the card. The motherboard is a ECS PT800CE-A. I checked for the yellow exclamation marks, theres none. Any suggestions?
ranchhand
Scuzz, this is one of those things that you just keep trying different things.

First, you gotta' find out why this red light is flashing. What does the manual that came with the tower say that light is for?

Next, go: Cntrl.Panel/Sounds & Audio Devices: in the little properties box that pops up, in the Volume tab should be the name of the drivers up front. What does it say?
>Make sure that "Mute" is not checked (enabled);
>In Advanced, make sure that "Mute All" or none of the others is enabled;
>In Audio tab, Default Device/Advanced: Make sure "Speaker Setup" is properly set.

HERE is the link to your sound drivers; Click "Drivers" and dial down to "Sound". Download them and install them.
Go into Device Manager/ Sound,Video&Game Controlers/among the several listings will be your sound drivers, you can recognize them, they are usually listed as "Audio Codec Interface"; double click on them and click the Driver Tab; click Update Driver and follow the prompts.

If that doesn't do it, you may have a bad board. Unfortunately, trying to contact these board manufacturers is an exercise in frustration. They are notorious for non-support, and really leave you with no alternative than to return the board. Try to decide this before your return time is exhausted.

I heard that "bloop" noise on a pc that had the speakers plugged into the wrong port. Very easy to do and just something to check.

sCuZz
I checked all of those, doesnt look like theres any problems. Today i was playing Call of Duty, and i had the voulume all the way up, and i culd hear ppl yelling lol. The sound was coming out of teh speakers, but really really low. I checked all the volume settings, and nothing changed it.
ranchhand
Take your speakers and plug them in to a different unit and see if they are working properly.
sCuZz
I plugged the speakers into my mp3 player, and they worked perfectly, so i have no idea. Everything else works on my pc, do you think theyre might be sum sort of thing i need to adjust on the board?
sCuZz
still no suggestions?
ranchhand
Did you delete and reload your soundcard drivers as I suggested?
sCuZz
yeap, i did it twice, i even installed anaother version of the driver...nothing is there a possibilty the sound card is messed up?
blackhawk
Is the power on to the speakers? Is there a mute button on somewhere?Try taking the video card out and reinstall in a diffrent slot. The red light might be telling you something is muted.
sCuZz
Ok, there isnt any other slot for the video card, i read the manual...no troubleshooting help there. Ive checked several times, and nothing is set at mute. Also i was checking my device manager, and it says i have two CPUs(i only have 1)...is that normal?
Ironbender
Not sure if I understood all this topic, but, if your mobo have a sound chipset AND a sound card (PCI or AGP) installed, you must deactivate the on board sound at your BIOS setup to avoid conflicts.
SamJ
Try the "Ironbender" helpful hint,if its doesnt work, Please check your volume control is set properly. Also reinstall the cd came with the motherboard.If still having the problem contact the motherboard manufacturer for details.
ranchhand
If Ironbenders suggestion doesn't work, I would not waste any time trying to contact the manufacturer. As I said earlier, it will be an exercise in futility. Just return the board. No mainboard should act this way.
sCuZz
I did it, no dice. Im just going to return the mainboard. sad.gif
