I have everything on my computer working fine. I formatted hard drive and began to install windows. Windows installation gets to step 4 (about 40 minutes left) and gets an error message. "An error has occured that prevents setup from conitinuring.. One of the components that windows needs to continue setup cound not be installed. The parameter is not correct. D:/1386/asma. THe parameter is incorrect. One of the ocmponents windows needs to continuie setup could not be installed."
I've loaded defaults into computer bios. As well as optimized and fail-safe. No Dice.

I had this problem one time. My solution (and that of several posts I found online) was to switch the cdrom.
Apparently XP has trouble installing from some fast cdrom's and cdr's.
If you have two optical drives, try installing from the other one. Otherwise, try installing a different drive from another pc, at least until the install is complete.
