I need help Networking together This desktop, another desktop, and my new Laptop. They all can use the internet in their current state, thanks to plug and play hardware, but I need them to be able to share files and printers. I already have the desktop not hooked up to the printer, set up to use the Network Printer by defualt. The two desktops have a connection where I can share printers, but I can't share files. They use XP. The Laptop, use 98 Second Edition, and I have little to no experience in mapping drives. smile.gif Hope this information helps you, in helping me. Thanks.

Hi again zero smile.gif
If you can share the printer, there is no reason you can't share the files. Try to right click on the folders you want to share on both machines and in the tab "properties", allow sharing.
Verify also the network properties...
A third machine on your network will need a switch or hub and propper cabling to connect all of them at the same time.

Ok. I networked everything, but I can't view the workgroup on the one desktop. It keeps saying that it may not be allowed to use that network resource, a workgroup listing could not be found at this time, etc. I have no Idea what the problem is, since I configured it the same as the other two. Other than that, all the computers can share files (except I can't access on that one desktop). Any help would be appreciated.

Note: My router also serves as a hub.

Alright, now things are getting odd. Since the SharedDocs folders didn't appear right away, I entered one manually. The third then appeared automatically by itself. O_o Then, I tried viewing the workgroup again, and it shows my computer now at least, but the other two which are in the SAME workgroup, don't appear. O_o;
