Hello,

since a couple of days, when receiving email in OE with a link to a site, it is not
possible to go to that site by clicking on the link. The colour changes but IE does
not open. I was searching in the "options" in OE but could not find anything that would
resolve this problem.
What is wrong?

Best regards,

Andy

Hi .. this is quite an odd one .. I can't quite picture it properly, but you might like to try the following;

Check in OE's options under the Read tab that the "Read alll messages in plain text" isn't checked.
You could reset Internet Explorer's settings, just in case. (Open IE, click Tools->Options, then click the Advanced tab and then lastly the Restore Defaults button)

Erin,

I tried both hints, but unfortunately none worked.

Check tools- options- security. Is there a check by, do not save or open attachments, ECT.

Email links won't open....

Give this Microsoft Knowledgebase article a read.

Another item to check:

Open Windows Explorer.
Go to Tools, Folder Options, File Types.
Scroll down to URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol and select it.
Click Edit or Advanced, depending on your Windows version.
Select 'open'.
Click Edit.

The Application used to perform this action should read:

"C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome
(Check the path to iexplore.exe to make sure that it's correct and use the double quotes.)

DDE should be checked and in the boxes below it you should see:

#1: "%1",,-1,0,,,,

#2: IExplore

#3: (blank)

#4: WWW_OpenURL

URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy should be the same.

Sometimes unchecking Use DDE will fix it.

Jimholly,

thank you very much, problem is solved.
It worked before, so I don't know what or who changed these settings.
