Hi,
I noticed that my system is running very, very slowly again. I checked the running processes in the Task Manager just now and I found our old friend? rant.exe and one other nasty. I ran a HiJackThis log which I am posting here tonight.

Somewhere down the line, you are going to a website that is infected, I can guarantee it. You must carefully review in heavy detail the sites you visit. In my job, for the last 3 years I access at least 10 company websites a day. I have had only one drive-by hijacking, and it took me 1.5 hours to clean it off my computer. What I mean, is that with all the sites I am in to daily I rarely get hijacked. HOWEVER, those are strictly pro corporate sites. Therefore, make a list of all your sites. I guarantee that one or more is doing you in.

I had removed the checkmark that turns off the Internet Connection Firewall accidetally.
That would explain how a lot of these nasties got in, but the rant.exe had gotten in while the Internet Connection Firewall was still on before I ran the System Recovery.

They probably won't load in safe mode, Jeannie. Just apply the HJT fixes and locate/delete the files while there.
