When I connected my network card to my PC and booted the computer the bubble at the bottom says "Found New Hardware" and I click on it, it finds the drivers but then a message says that it cant finish installing because "Data is Invalid"

By the way, here is some info on my comp:
Windows XP Pro
Mother board is SiS 5513 (i think)
The network card is a Belkin Desktop Wireless Network, PCI

The network worked before I used KILLDISK on my harddrive to get rid of some viruses and that was when I had WinXP Home, and now I installed WinXP Pro and i cant install it.

Have you tried the cd that came with the card?

Welcome to SAF.

If you are using the disk that came with the card and it is bad, you could try downloading the (updated) driver from the manufacturer website. You can save it to a disk and try to install the driver that way.

No i've tried the cd drivers and the ones form the website but each time it finds the driver it starts installing it but then at the end it says "Data is Invalid".
I've installed this card before, but now that I've erased my harddrive this starts happening.
Thanks.

Hi stuffed_up, you haven't described the whole transition from XP Home to Pro and I'd wager your problem comes from the removal of your virus combined with an over-install of XP Pro - the virus could have left damage and an overinstallation of two different (only slightly in this case, but different none the less) Operating Systems often leaves incompatibilities. If this is the case, I'd recommend saving all your data and starting a clean installation with the OS you want to stick with.

Alternatively, you could try installing a different NIC and if this works, you have the choice of leaving things as they are or going through a clean installation.

Well first I had WinXP Home so I used KILLDISK.EXE to clean out my harddrive, then I installed WinXP Pro from scratch. By the way of have some screenshots of some of the configuration.
Thnx for the help.

(How do you Insert images into the post?)
