Im usuing a desktop and a notebook to connect to eachother with a crossover cable. My desktop doesnt even have service pack 1 yet (problem im also having which is on my other post i posted yesturday) while the other (notebook) has service pack 2 installed... when I enable "Local Area Connection" on my desktop it runs great, i recieve and send packets. but on my notebook, when I enable my Local Area Connection i get an error saying "could not connect" and then it automatically disables it. I need to transfer alot of my files to my desktop pc and for this im trying to set up the connection. but before all this, it was working great without any problems, but now my notebook is having errors when connected to my desktop, it says something like "no address was assigned to this pc" i have no idea whats going on, i hope someone does, thank you.

I split your question into its own post in the correct forum.
Please do not ask a question in an existing thread (especially in a pinned "FYI" thread). You won't get much of a response that way.
As for your question, I have avoided SP2 for now. I am sure it is something in the new security settings. Maybe someone will be able to direct you to the appropriate one.

Complexstatement. First try updating your driver for your NIC but you can also look at your network setting such as IP add or you have one set with an IP and the other is at automatic. You can also go to your network connection and enable "show notification when connected" and see if you're getting connection between the two
