HI!
I want to share my satellite internet connection in my small town to 60 users , but i don't know how to do this.(i am new to networking)
Another question is, that how to network users pc's at long distance(30meters to 1000meters), I mean what type of cables and switch is required?
Note:I want a wired network not wireless, and I also want to use my server pc as router.

Here's some suggestions until some better advice comes along...

The rules change a bit if this is a commercial venture but the words "server PC as router" suggest this is more of a community project. The distinction is important as a commercial venture would need management and billing support, and probably roadside boxes for equipment, whereas a community project can rely much more on goodwill and routers may be located in clients' houses, allowing the use of low cost computer store parts.

There does not appear to be a to limit to how many 100baseTX switches can be interconnected but there appears to be a limit to how many segments (cables) there can be in the network. I've seen web pages that state 1000 segments, more than enough I'd hope.

The official segment length (cable length) limit for Ethernet on copper wire seems to be 100m. This could possibly be "bent" by using a higher cable grade.

"Extenders" are available that will drive a longer segment.

SDSL offers a very attractive way of spanning significant distances (km). I don't mean using a router to access an ISP I mean putting a router at each end of your own cable or leasing a "dry circuit" from the phone co.

Don't rule out wireless altogether, used with directional antennas it could be used to bridge difficult spans.
