Hello,

My problem is this: after installing XP Pro on a freshly formatted HD that used to have 2000, whenever I plug in my Netgear MA111 Wireless USB Adapter, the computer restarts. It keeps restarting until I unplug it. Can someone help?

Also: I tried to get a temporary internet solution on that computer by linking two patch cables together and plugging it directly to the router. However, XP Pro doesnt seem to recognize the integrated LAN card, which supposedly doesnt use drivers.

Thanks in advance
Erin
If the network card is integrated then you WILL need the drivers. You can get them from the motherboard manufacturer's website.

Do you have all the updates installed for XP ?
Have you tried plugging the device in a different USB plug ?

I tried installing drivers for my onboard LAN from the motherboard CD and it still didnt work.

No, I don't have all the updates for XP because I cant connect to the internet. Is there a way to download the updates in a file that I could burn to a CD on my Win98 machine? I did try plugging it into another comp and it didnt restart it or anything.

Hello imperial,

I did a google search for the XPSP2 updates for my new computer and downloaded to my ME Machine Burned a CD and installed before connecting to the internet.

Actually I installed all of the new Software I wanted to add including FireWall and updated drivers for the wireless card, before I connected to the outside world of the great wonderful web.
