On two separate occasions I've tried installing a Wi-Fi network in my parents' two-story house. The first time was with an 802.11b router; the second time with an 802.11g router. Long story short--the signal can't seem to reach beyond the room containing the router! I've tried putting it in different rooms; the result is always the same.

In my own house, I've got the router in the basement and the signal reaches all the way upstairs--and it's still strong! What in the world could be causing this problem in my folks' house? If I didn't know better, I'd say something in the walls was causing the signal to drop off. It's really, really weird.

TIA!

is ur parents place an old building? if it is the walls may be alot thicker than yours and hence the reduction in signal.
Interceptor
They could be suffering from electrical interference. If they have many electronic appliances runing that will destroy the signal.
