The title says it all, I have re-installed/repaired all my software. Nothing fixed it, I'm really hoping that it's not my motherboard. I have already replaced it once. Is there a diagnostic I can run to tell me why it's doing this besides windows generic "Windows cannot connect." winsock fix didn't do any good either. It says that my adapter is connected, but cannot connect because the wireless connection is out of range even though its in the next room and my girlfriends laptop is connected via wireless and it works just fine.

EDIT: okay so the lan works now, I think my adapter may have went bad

if the laptop and your computer are in the same room then suspect something with the wireless adapter. check the antenna for secure connection. change the antenna position. remove as many obstructions as possible between the antenna and the router especially power cords.
