I want to install Linux in my PC; Xp run ok, after that I formated an when Fedora start the boot process from DVD, hang indefinitely after a short while. I have limited knowledge about asus, the motherboard and Linux. There are 1 HDD S-ATA; 80GB. I've not changed any board settings or junpers other than adding a power adapter cable for the new S-ATA drive and its associated data cable. No changes to the BIOS from the windows xp installation. From what I have searched on this forum's posts, nothing is writen about linux and this motherboard and googling was of no help either. I now am thinking perhaps linux will not work with this. What else is needed so someone could help?
I forgeted the motherboard Asus P5VDC-TVM TE/S

Are you aware you have to have an empty partition on a hard drive IF you want to have a dual-boot system (WinXP + Linux)? Unless you are planning to wipe you WinXP and install Linux.

But your boot-to-CD problem MAY be just a bad CD. Your CD drive cannot read it properly, OR the CD is incompatible with the drive.

Example, SOME older CD drives have trouble reading CD-RW disks.
