I need some assistance with solving a network connection issue on my wireless network. I have virgin cable connection which is wired in to my downstairs frontroom. the access point is conneced to my modem which is then connected to my wireless router. My house has three floors and unfortunatley the only room that I am unable to connect to is the study which is where I quite often work and need an internet connection.

Due to the layout of the house I am unable wire a connection without major disruption. Virgin have said that I am only able to have the one connecting coming i n to the house. I've also tried using the electricity wiring, however the different floors use different circuits so Im unabel to use gadgets that allow use of electrucity wiring.

does anyone have any thoughts on how to connect the one particular room without additional internal wiring ? Can i boost the signal or use someother device to pick up signal and forward to the room without reception ?

hi sayoung
unfortunately the biggest limiting factor for wireless is range/penetration through walls. the best range/penetration is with wireless n with range booster. unfortunately there's no guaranty wireless n will have the range you need to connect the top floor with the bottom floor. i think the only way to connect all 3 floors would be to have your internet connection run into the middle floor and run a wireless n range boosted router/wireless n range boosted network adapters from there.

Surfer is right.
Even wireless access points can't guarantee you will have full range through your home.
setting up on the middle floor and seeing how things work from there would be the easiest thing
to try out
