I just recieved a new wireless printer for x-mas, the Dell V305. My question is this, I installed the software on my laptop. The printer connected the network fine and I was able to print wirelessly. So I went to my fiancee's laptop and found the printer on the network and installed it. It printed a test page fine BUT when I shut my laptop, it will not print from her laptop.

Is there a step I missing to eliminate this issue? I don't see why my laptop should have to be open for her to print from hers. Unless this is a function of this printer but I can't find that in the manual or online. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you and Happy New Year!

Hi Luke,

you probably installed a shared printer on your fiancee's laptop, so, she needs yours to be connected to find the printer drivers.

To resolve this, you have to install the printer software on her laptop, and the printer as local, as you did on yours. This will load the printers drivers directly from her laptop.
